2017-18 American Enterprise Project
Aundrea Bruna, Laramie Moyer, and Riley Moore have created their project “Be Your Own Boss Now” to support the American Enterprise System and highlight student entrepreneurs at Washington County High School. They began by interviewing student business owners within their school. They asked the 11 student business owners what it took to be a successful entrepreneur and what was their favorite part aspect of being an entrepreneur. They videotaped the interviews and made the answers into short videos. These short videos were shown to students throughout the high school and junior high during Tiger Time. Students were able to fill out a Google Form about whom was their favorite business and did they think they will be able to start their own business. Bruna, Moyer, and Moore then wrote a report and presented the project at the District IV Conference hosted here at Washington County. The team received 1st place and will be attending state. The team plans to present their project at the Washington Chamber of Commerce Annual Mixer in March. The team has their videos on YouTube and encourage everyone to look the videos below. Members on the rotary tree committee had an original and crafty design for this year’s donation to the Rotary Festival of Trees by cutting wooden pallets and stacking the blocks to replicate a Christmas tree. Trees and wreaths of every shape, size, and style are donated and then auctioned off to the community. This year, the proceeds from the auction were donated to the Washington County Hospital and PowerZone, U.S.D. 108’s after-school project. Combined, our chapter’s trees raised $360.

Our chapter also received an article in KSDS’ Fall 2016, Volume 16, Issue 1 of The Pathway for all the services we’ve provided over the years.

August 21, 2014 Recruitment Party: "The Amazing Race"
At the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year, a party was planned and held at the high school track in Washington,on Thursday, September 18. Forty-seven students participated that night and dues were less that night if you came and paid. It started at the track with a 50 yard dash and then the team received a clue that led them to the bus barn to answer FBLA trivia questions. The next stop on the race trail was the East Elementary, to run and compete on an obstacle course. The last course was located near the weight room, where each member had to use his or her face to find a certain colored gummy worm in a chocolate pie. the winners of the race received free dues. after completing the race, members ate a hamburger meal. All of the Washington County High School students were invited to participate in various games, fun activities, and food. this was a great success in recruiting new members. We gained members after they saw how much fun FBLA can be.
2014----In-School Fundraising
The chapter started selling beef jerky sticks throughout the school day in 2014 and this has been an effective method for fundraising. Priced at $1.00 each, on average, 20-25 are sold in a day to students in 7-12th grade. The principal approved the beef jerky sticks before we began the sales to ensure that state health regulations were followed.
